Faces of Revolution

120 x 70

Acrylic, author's blood and mirror glass on canvas

2020-2022

The Guy Fawkes mask from V for Vendetta, the Fsociety mask from Mr. Robot, Salvador Dalí’s mask from La Casa de Papel—these are some of the most iconic faces of Resistance. Defiance. Rebellion. Revolution. Faces that call for change: a change in the rules, a change in the system, a change in society—and in ourselves.

Yet, the streams of blood trickling down their faces—painted with my own blood—symbolize the lack of real willingness among people today to fight for that change. But look closely. In the reflection of the mirror fragments, you will see yourself. Because anyone can resist the established order. Anyone can strive to improve what is unjust and broken. Anyone can change the world.

And in that moment, this painting—your painting—becomes complete.

The work is part of the “Let's Start A Revolution” series.
