Flower Fist

70 x 50

Acrylic on canvas

2022

Flower Fist symbolizes non-violent resistance—achieving change without weapons, bloodshed, or unnecessary violence. While armed struggle may sometimes become a last resort, true resistance should first take shape through peaceful means.

The velvet purple flower in the painting embodies this principle, referencing the Velvet Revolution of 1989 in Czechoslovakia—a movement that successfully overthrew the communist regime through non-violent action. In today’s world, such resistance takes the form of protests, strikes, civil disobedience, economic and political non-cooperation, and other peaceful methods that challenge injustice without resorting to violence.

The work is part of the “Let’s Start A Revolution” series.
