Flower Fist
70 x 50
Acrylic on canvas
2022
"Flower Fist is a symbol of non-violent resistance that does not use weapons to achieve its goals. A change is almost always possible without unnecessary use of violence and bloodshed. The employment of Molotov cocktails should be the last option of the manifestation of resistance – before that you have to use non-violent forms that are embodied by the velvet purple flower on the painting (a reference to the Velvet Revolution of 1989 in Czechoslovakia, which is characterized by non-violent removal of the communist regime in the country); in practice, today’s non-violent forms of resistance include protests, strikes, civil disobedience, economic or political non-cooperation and other methods refraining from violence."
The work is part of the “Let’s Start A Revolution” series.
